Gumbarf

Right now, Dan's blog is all messed up. Perhaps he is having fun with his brothers and not worrying about his blog, which would be a good thing, so I don't really mind all that much. He should know, however, that his breakfast is shown twice, but under two different dates a month apart.

1 apple, 1 bana, 1 odwalla fruit bar. Very fruity. Apples and bananas are two fruits, neither of which are my favorite. I am currently wondering if Odwalla bars are dry. Granola bars are delish, but not when they're totally dry and crumbly like those Nature Valley ones, naw mean? I know that DG doesn't care at all about his food being dry, since he never moistens it with a condiment, so this question is necessary. As for me, if I ever mention eating a granola bar, you can rest assured it wasn't all dry and oaty. Odwalla is owned by Coke. Also, Daniel neglected to note which flavor his fruit bar was. There are many varieties.

The whole bloody mary and ginger ale thing with planes doesn't mean anything or make any sense to me. Basically, any food/drink consumed on a plane is a mixed blessing. A mid-flight refreshment is an enjoyable experience in that it gives you something to do, and it may or may not revitalize/replenish you. However, I really hate trying to enjoy this tiny snack in the tiny space into which I am squeezed, all the while hoping that the small cup indentation will do its job and keep my flimsy plastic cup in place. Also, after I finish the refreshments, I very much loathe having to wait for the steward to come collect my garbage.

Gumbo, fried oysters...bleh. I'll spare you my redundant comments on seafood. I would not visit New Orleans, based solely on the fact that I'm uninterested in its cuisine. Also, heat.

A Fancy Affair; or: Dan's Dinner of Delight

First of all, I am confused by Dan's afternoon post, the one with the bagel. Mr Ross Goldberg documents that he consumed, "1 Bagel With Cheese and GrapeRoma Tomatoes+ American Cheese." Was the first cheese of the cream variety? If not, why list cheese twice? Also, why does he first use "and" to indicate the addition of tomatoes with this meal, and an addition sign, or a plus, to explain the inclusion of American cheese? Finally, what is a GrapeRoma tomato? I know I am on the internet and all, but w/e. I know of Grape tomatoes, and I know of Roma tomatoes, and anything in between seems like it should have a different name. Clearly this snack left me more confused than anything. Also if it was a plain bagel, :( Bagels should always be flava'd imo.

I'm not really " 'down with" ' " meat with fruit. AKA Salmon + blueberries. One time, I had some fish topped with breadcrumbs and goat cheese + strawberries, and it was f-ing nassty. It may have been the chevre, though, because as far as goat cheese goes, I'm only okay with feta. Also, both chevre and feta are, as previously stated, cheeses from goat's milk, but did you know that chevre is just french for goat? I find that sort of silly. Maybe places are just being really vague when they refer to their cheese as chevre...

Anywho, if you will recall, I had mentioned how DRG and HCS are polar opposites when it comes to their tastes. This post supports this statement yet again. Dr. G says that he ordered the french onion soup just for the cheese. You may also recall my passing distaste for mass quantities of melted cheese masses. To this day I cannot tolerate the cheese layer on FOS, especially with the revolting soggy bread lurking unseen beneath. So, Daniel orders FOS specifically for the cheese, whereas I politely ask for FOS WITHOUT both cheese and sogged breads.

Continuing on... almond coated salmon: I could go either way; blueberry compote: compost; garlic mashed potatoes: A+; asparagus: only good on rare occasions; 1 shrimp: you know; Root beer: very delish and very Dan.

His later snacks again included the mysterious GrapeRoma tomatoes with no space, more blueberry things, and Terra Blue Chips. Terra makes some good other chips, but I don't feel like looking up what they are called. Fruit on the bottom yogurt is really incredibly good to me, and was a staple during my middle school years. It is another thing I wouldn't expect Dr G to eat.

Hot Dog of Fat

Dan's dinner sounds like a backyard cookout, mmm. I wouldn't have imagined that he would eat baked beans, but he is just full of surprises. Also surprising is the amount of fat in that hot dog, am I right!

The next update Dan made is pretty ridiculous. I will not be watching that video, probably, because performances are boring even when they are by Joanna Newsom. The only performances I really like are movies, and people dancing in a non-lame style, like crumping. Examples of lame dancing styles include waltzes, ballet, jazz, and interpretive.

Goya, empanada, and boca. These are all spanish words. I guess DG is really getting into South Florida's latin flavor. What is an empanada, and could Danny be drinking too much pear nectar...

Daniel has Risen

I'm pretty excited we are all getting in on the grocery story sampling.

I admire Dan's fashion of eating brownie bites: 2 per snack. This is undeniably chaste, and I could definitely not limit myself to only a pair of them, if I had somehow made the mistakes of 1) being around brownie bites and 2) allowing myself to begin consumption of them.

When Daniel awoke today he decided to have his mom's leftovers, and some fruit-stuffs. Most of you know about my general distaste for seafood, and this pizza definitely qualifies as something that I would Not Eat. Also, scampi is a really crappy word, and I think it just means "with some butter shit." Actually, I looked up scampi and it means shrimp, basically. I found some interesting stuff about it, seen here.

Dan, please go back in time and eat a peach instead of that single cherry (why D. Ross only ate one cherry, I am not aware). This way, when you listed the items, there would be a peach, a plum, and a pear nectar, and we all know where I am going with this.

It doesn't surprise me that Dan's favenectar is pear, because I think this is one of the crappier flavors and in general it seems that Danny's and my tastes are completely divergent.

10th of Jew-Lie

I really didn't realize there was such a difference between v8 and tomato juice. v8 is good; i used to get it from the c-store in miami and can remember one specific instance drinking it on my way back down the path, at sunset, to my old room in that dorm, whatever it was called, with audrey. dan's talk about 'certain tastebuds' sounds like crazy talk. maybe he is a super-taster, after all. whatever, the main point is that i'm just happy it wasn't clamato.

cold garlic roll is :( but whatever i've learned to accept these things from dan now. i'm just happy he's eating and it's not clamato.

oh, cpk, yum. i would like some pizza. usually when i go to cpk i order this fusilli, though. i will only eat certain pasta shapes and fusilli is one of them. it seems suspect that dan's mother suggested indian but then backed out of it once his interest was piqued.

this post blows tonight but i am pretty tired, so what-ev-er

Denny's Delight

Wow, this is by far Dan's best meal yet. I love Denny's, but there are still things available on the menu I would never order. Danny, however, managed to order two things of which I approve wholeheartedly.

I am greatly pleased that Dan will drink milkshakes nowadays, and downright tickled that he is experiencing cravings for them. That is basically how I feel, all the time: like I want a milkshake. He should realize that their viscosity is what makes them good, and that they taste like melted ice cream and that melted ice cream is something which is undeniably delicious. I must find out what variety of shake he got.

Mozzarella sticks: I approve of these even more. There was definitely a time in my life where large quantities of melted cheese grossed me out, but thankfully my love of anything fried enabled me to always enjoy mozzarella sticks. I mention this, though, because my mother also has this occasional aversion to too much melted cheese, so when I think of picky eaters (Dan), I sort of assume that he should dislike lots of melted cheese. This logic isn't entirely sound. It definitely has to do with the texture, but apparently this is a texture that is not difficult for Daniel to deal with. Either way, this is the type of meal I would have for every meal of my life, if I could.

Also, I believe that Dan should stubbornly refuse to admit that the restaurant is known as Denny's, and instead refer to it only as Danny's.

Evening of July 9th

In general, I am pretty satisfied with Dan's food consumption today. I think he got foods from all the food groups, and it seems that an adequate number of calories were taken in. I believe that maybe Dan eats better at his parents' home, where there is ample food for him and a mother fixing things for him occasionally.

I am definitely curious about the peach smoothie. It sounds good, and reminds me that I have been meaning to make some smoothies lately. I want to know more about it, though. Was it homemade, or did it come in a bottle? If store-bought, I am curious about its brand.

A boca burger on Wonderbread makes me sad. It reminds me of how sad and dry things are without condiments, and how easily the less than thrilling burger/bread combo could have been improved/wetted. Also, using Wonderbread as a bun = ghetto.

The coconut popsicle is indeed intriguing. I cannot imagine its taste. I also don't understand how blueberries maintain DG's attention, because to me they are somewhat bland as far as fruits go. Maybe I need to refresh my conception of blueberries, though, as I previously noted.
